My Life

Kindness

Last night, after all the craziness of the day, I got reminded how awesome my boys are. My bunch are wild, determined, brave, strong, athletic, and well…very masculine. With all the ways they make Brian and I crazy, they also remind us how sweet, caring, and loving they are too.

The boys have always been fun to watch with kids younger than them, especially babies.  Every time we brought home a new baby, the older ones would sit and hold it for hours. It was so sweet. Then when the baby boy would start walking he’d take off with the others! Never to be slow again! Doing whatever the big boys did and going wherever the big boys went. The top of the wrestling pile is usually where the baby would be!!

Now, when we had our little girl its been a little different. They are a lot more careful with her and VERY protective of her. Harper hears how “pretty” or “cute” she is on a daily basis from them. They treat her so differently than they have the boy babies. Whatever she wants, they get. Wherever she wants to go, they take her. We might be in trouble when she starts school and none of her classmates are treating her like a princess! For now, it is so neat to see the boys be gentle and kind to their baby sister. Now don’t get me wrong. She is right there with them when they are in a wrestling match or playing ball. But they try to be SO careful not to hurt her.

Last week we installed our new toilets and had the boxes downstairs waiting for trash day. On a side note….I am happy to report that the wet seat issue has been almost resolved!! Or so it seems. ( Maybe the taller toilets will save my sanity when using the restroom!!???) The boys found one of the boxes last night and brought it up stairs. While I was making supper they were working hard to make their baby sister a playhouse! Yes, once in a while they can all five work together without arguing! It’s like a shooting star….doesn’t happen very often!! She LOVED it so much!! Seeing the boys so proud and playing with Harper in the cardboard house made me quickly forget about all the craziness of the day.

God has made each one of my boys different from the others.  However, he gave all five of them kind hearts. It is awesome to see their kind, gentle, caring sides come out  around younger kids and babies. I have no doubt in my mind that they will become great men and fathers some day. Now, let’s pray Harper doesn’t beat up the boys on the playground for not telling her she’s cute or not doing what she wants!! Lord help us!  HAHAHAHA

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and gentleness. Against such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:55-23
